5th Grade Curriculum
Math
Pearson Education is the publisher of the Scott Foresman-Addison Wesley math series used by the Franklin Township School District. Four distinct phases of research were integrated in the development of this series. The goal was to ensure that all children learn the math skills and concepts needed for everyday life. This series is customized for the state of New Jersey and meets the standards of federal programs.Fifth graders will gain more knowledge and insight in the following areas:

- Decimals
- Multiplying
- Dividing
- Data, graphs and probability
- Geometry
- Fraction Concepts and Operations
- Measurement
- Volume and Capacity
- Ratio, proportion and percent
- Integers, equations and graphing

Because so much of fifth grade math is based on the knowledge of the times tables, it is important that your child has memorized the multiplication facts tables. If he or she is not proficient, please practice every evening.
