Stages of Continental Drift

Pangea - the supercontinent that held all of Earth’s land 225 million years ago. It held all of today’s present continents.

Gondwana / Laurasia - About 200 million years ago Pangea broke apart into Gondwana and Laurasia. Gondwana contained all the land that is now in the Southern Hemisphere and Laurasia is the land of the northern hemisphere

Present day Earth - as the continents and oceans look today.

Rock Records

Fossil - the remains of past life found in rocks.

Grand Canyon

Over 2 billion years old!!
The oldest rock is at the bottom of the canyon.
The youngest rock is at the top.
