I Think The Most Historic Place In Franklin Township is The Blew Farm, Oak Grove Mill's, owned by Susan Blew and her family. I think this is the most historic place in Franklin Township because it has been a working farm for more than 200 years. The Blew Farm is also wonderful place to see with all of the acres, animals and the products that they grow. On Monday, March 6, Susan Blew of Oak Grove Plantation was honored with the Mid-Atlantic Master Farmer Award. Susan Blew, was one of six farmers selected in three states to be recognized at the 66 the annual Master Farmer Awards luncheon at the Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Past recipients across Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, and West Virginia will honor this year's winners. Susan Blew is the only awarder selected from New Jersey farms in Franklin Township. Susan Blew and her family will be recognized for their success in the areas of progressive business management, responsible use of resources and exemplary civic leadership. Susan Blew is proof that you don't need a big farm to build a future. Her production innovations, marketing, smart, and endless energy, plus enthusiastic support from her husband, Ted, and 4 children, Charity, Eric, Amanda, and Jonathan, built a thriving agriculture business. In 1703, there was 2,000 acres from the beginning and its name was Oak Grove Mills. In 1860 Josiah Wilson started the farm, and the first thing he built was a barn. He carved his initials and it is still there today. He grew lots of trees and had lots of cows. In 1920 the farm went down hill from everything was getting old and the barn fell down, it was no longer used. In 1977 the Blews bought the farm and moved into their house. The Amish built the house and they lived in Pennsylvania. In 1984 the Blews added on to their house and the farm. This has helped them grow into their success today. I thank Susan Blew for letting me interview her.
