Crunching grass under feet,
wind blowing, sun beating down
the goal is scored.

Panting hard, but happy,
running around is really fun,
grab water and begin again.

A smile creeping up,
eyes twinkle, a laugh jingles,
a happy feeling.

Summer

When summer is here,
I feel the joy of riding my bike
though the cool summer breeze,
the warmth of the hot sun on my back,
the feeling of having fun.

Has a cat who
Entered a race and had to run
Laps around the fish market and had to
Eat some fish, and the cat got energy and won the race
Nap time for kitty.

Blooming bright
Colorful, soft, smooth

Rain
cold and wet drops filling the earth,
over and over like a non-changing verse,
over my head and in the sky wet
drops all over.

An Ant

An ant gets ready to start a long journey.
It picks up its cargo,
a nut and a small tomato.
"Where should I go?"
The little ant thinks, and looks around.
That way is a big acre, full of grain.
That way is the woods.
That way goes to my friend,
and then to the mountain and then down again.
I think I'll go that way, to my dear old friend.
I can't wait to see him again.

The Wall

The wall has fallen bewitched and stormed by time.
It has been left to crumble, as the bricks fall into grime.
It shows the nations prosper and then come down so fast,
and the wall is always there to remind us of our past.

Rockets

I like rockets.
Why? you ask.
Rockets have a lot of ping,
going up and down in the spring,
zigging and zagging in the sky,
but, sometimes failing to fly.

Rocks

rocks are beautiful creatures
sometimes sitting on the river bleachers
shifting, shaping they are
both very near and very far

sometimes smooth, sometimes ragged
sometimes mutating into hot lava
shifting and shaping again
through the whole process we go again.

My life is like a book.
You never know when it's good or bad.
When you turn the page
you don't know what will happen.
You wonder and wonder who will die,
what's going to happens to my life,
or am I going to be in tears the next day.

My life is like a book.
You never know
what's going to happen until it happens.
Its kind of weird that you don't know
but that's the way it is.

My life is like a book.

Rain

Pit pat
the cold wet drops
on your face
and on your shoes.
It is very cold out with the rain
it makes little rain puddles
and it makes mud puddles.

Sun

The hot sun beaming on my face
sometimes it makes me sweat.
Going swimming in the hot sunny weather
it feels very good to get splashed in the face.
The sun is very bright
just like the the color yellow.

Dear Owner
(a poem from a cat)

The tree,
This tree,
The one I'm in,
It's my tree,
It's my great big tree,
All gnarled and old,
But young and peppy,
For its roots still hold,
It's proud and majestic,
Staring straight up at the sun,
But small and wimpy,
Its time soon will be done,
It's strong and bold,
And it's my world,
But I am frightened,
That my best friend will go,
As I lay back now,
In this nest made of branches,
I wonder why the world,
Has to turn happiness into sadness,
So here I am,
Shaded by leaves of green and gold,
If happiness has to come to an end,
I'll enjoy it till I get cold,
But now as the sun is setting,
Its rays like flashlight beams,
Its gold light seems to sparkle,
When they hit the waves of green,
My owner calls out "Supper!"
My stomach rumbles twice,
I hope my tree won't get lonely,
While I dine on some mice.

Sincerely,
The cat

Logan

One day I was walking by
with a broken eye
when I called Dr. Bestby.

Used like a dog
In a house.
Si, no, maybe, could be.

The cardinals chirp and flit their wings,
The blue jay lifts its head and sings.
A squirrel leaps from tree to tree,
It sounds like it's right over me.
Pink and purple lilacs bloom,
In the bright sunlight,
And when I'm in my backyard,
Everything's all right.

My best friend moved away today,
To somewhere that's far far away.
But I still have a memory,
From the very first time we played.
A grain of sand from her sandbox,
Where I looked on her face.
And in my heart, though she is gone,
She'll always have a place.

Only one world, inside all space,
Where we can live, here's the place.
Here's the one thing we've promised true:
To keep this world for children new.
Let's keep our world, not destroy it,
And keep the light forever lit.
Out of all of what we have, Earth's the thing,
For, if we destroy it, we have nothing.

The Sun

The sun is a planet
filled with summer
as it never gets cold.
The sun opens my eyes
and then they shut.
It lives forever, it never dies,
but as I get older and older
I die and it disappears,
I'll never see it again in my life.
I will always remember the day
I saw the sun come with me
from when I was born until the end.

A poem is a poem
with so many things inside.
You'll never know what could happen
if you read it and do not like it.

A Breeze

It's so nice to wake up,
and hear a rustling breeze,
especially in the summer,
when it's 108 degrees.

All you really want right then,
is something very cold,
and a breeze is something,
even when you're quite old.

So if you have a breeze,
you will be quite happy,
but if the temperature goes up,
you will probably slap me!

Michael

Traveling Poems

The World

I have long wanted to travel the world
Unafraid of things that can be thrown, or can be hurled
Going through a hurricane
Finding some sugar cane
Land ho! land ho!

The Journey

finally I'm all packed up with oats
(for my horse
of course)
and maps
and I'm on the boat
the U.S.'s pride
and slowly we glide
with my maps and my oats
(for my horse
of course)
Land Ho!

Land Ho!

Land ho! Land ho! as I said before
Means much, much and much more
It means we are coming upon the shore
Land ho! land ho! as I said before

Nate

The Journey Back

My horse ate all the oats
I lost a map in Rome
And now we're on the boat
The boat that takes us home
