Referral Process
A referral is a written request for an evaluation when a child is suspected of having a disability and may need special education services. A referral can be made by either a parent/guardian or a school staff member.
Our district uses a Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) to help students.
In most cases, students are first referred to the Intervention and Referral Services Team (I&RS). This team works with teachers and families to provide extra support. If, after these interventions, a student continues to struggle, the team may decide to:

adjust the current support plan,

review the student for 504 eligibility, or

recommend a referral to the Child Study Team for a full evaluation.
If you would like to request a meeting with the Child Study Team to discuss a possible evaluation for your child, you may:

fill out the Referral Form, or

send an email to Crystal Gonzalez, Child Study Team Secretary, explaining your reason for the request.
Please remember to sign the bottom of your form or letter. Referrals must include an original signature. You may:

Once we receive your referral, a member of the Child Study Team will contact you within 20 days to schedule a meeting and talk about the next steps.
